Adminission Requirement

FIRST  DEGREE  PROGRAMMES

1. POST-SENIOR  SECONDARY  SCHOOL  CANDIDATES

BASIC  ENTRY  REQUIREMENTS:
The Minimum Admission Requirement into the University of Cape Coast for SSSCE / WASSCE applicants is aggregate 20.

Candidates must have passes in six (6) subjects with overall aggregate of twenty (20).

Three of the six subjects must be core subjects (including English Language, Integrated Science and Mathematics) and three must be in relevant electives.

In addition to the above, candidates must satisfy requirements as indicated below:

B.Sc.  (AGRICULTURE)

i.          Candidates must have passes in the following core subjects: English, Mathematics and Integrated Science.

ii.          In addition to the above, candidates must have passes not below Grade D in elective subjects under options 1 or 2 below:

OPTION 1:  General Agriculture, Chemistry, Physics/Elective   Mathematics.

OPTION 2:  Biology, Chemistry, Physics/Elective Mathematics.

NOTE:     The following Agricultural elective subjects will no longer be accepted for admission into the B.Sc. (Agric) programme: Crop Husbandry and Horticulture, Animal Husbandry, Fisheries, Forestry, Agricultural Economics and Extension, Farm Mechanization and Horticulture

 

2.  POST-DIPLOMA  CANDIDATES

The University of Cape Coast runs full-time 2-year Post-Diploma Degree Programme as follows:

Applicants in this category should fill the Post-Diploma Application for Admission Forms.

BASIC  ENTRY  REQUIREMENTS:

A good Teacher's Diploma (at a minimum of Second Class Lower Division or better) obtained from one of the former Diploma Awarding Institutions, the University of Cape Coast (DASSE) or equivalent institutions with at least two (2) years post qualification teaching/working experience. All candidates must pass an interview.

 

The School of Agriculture offers a 3-year Post-Diploma B.Sc. (Agric) Programme.

i.    Candidates must possess a Diploma in any field of Agriculture from a recognized University or Polytechnic.

ii.    In addition to the above, candidates must have FIVE (5) GCE 'O'         Level credit passes including English Language and Mathematics and three (3) Science subjects or six (6) SSSCE/WASSCE passes in English Language, Mathematics, Integrated Science and three (3) elective subjects including at least two (2) Science subjects.

B.Sc.  (ANIMAL  HEALTH)

Candidates must have:

i.    A Veterinary Assistant (Technical Officer) Certificate from Pong- Tamale or allied institutions with strong Animal Health Programmes.

ii.    In addition, either a Diploma in Animal Health from the University of Ghana or a Diploma from a recognized institution with strong Animal Health Programmes would also be considered.

iii.   Candidates must, in addition to the above, have credit passes at GCE 'O' Level in English and Mathematics and in at least 3 other science subjects, or 6 SSSCE passes (of Grade E or better) in the core subjects English, Mathematics and Integrated Science, and 3 electives, at least 2 being science subjects.

Applicants should ensure that a certified academic transcript showing semester-by-semester GPA and FCGPA is submitted together with their Application Forms.

DURATION  OF  THE  PROGRAMME

The programme will be for 2 years. Students will enter the programme at Level 300.

The above programme is for staff of Ministry of Food and Agriculture only.
